Measure around the widest part of the chest, just behind the front legs, and around the neck where a collar sits. If the chest and the weight point to different sizes, go by the chest. Between two sizes, take the larger one.

In detail
Long, low and very busy with the fallen leaves: a Dachshund, in our padded harness.
The padded body panel goes around the chest, two side-release buckles click shut, and the metal D-ring on the back sits between the shoulders, ready for the leash. Standards usually take S or M. A mini with a chest of 14 to 17 in takes XS, but some minis measure under 14 in, and then XS is too big: write to us before you order. On a long, low dog, the weight and the chest can point to different sizes, so measure the chest just behind the front legs and let it decide. Between two sizes, take the larger one.
It suits the walks a Dachshund takes very seriously: an autumn path through the park, a nose down in the leaves, a sudden stop for a smell only they can find.

Care
- Wipe it with a damp cloth and a little mild soap, then let it air dry flat, away from a heater or direct sun.
- Check the straps, stitching and buckles before each walk; stop using it if a buckle cracks or a strap frays.
Step by step
How to use it
Open both buckles and loosen the straps.
Put the harness on with the D-ring on your dog’s back, between the shoulders.
Close the buckles until they click.
Tighten the neck and chest straps until two fingers slide flat under every strap, no more.
Clip the leash to the D-ring on the back.
Check the fit again after the first few walks.

Is this the same harness as the other breed pages?
Yes. The Dachshund, Corgi, Frenchie and Small Dog pages all sell the same SANPO harness, at the same price, in the same 11 colors and four sizes. Here it is shown on a Dachshund, with the sizes Dachshunds usually take.
Which size for a miniature or a standard Dachshund?
A mini with a chest of 14 to 17 in takes XS. Some small minis measure under 14 in, and then XS is too big: write to us at contact@sanpodog.com with the measurements before you order. Standards usually take S, for a chest of 18 to 22 in, or M, for 23 to 30 in. Measure the chest just behind the front legs and go by the chest over the weight. The full chart is on our size guide.
My Dachshund is between two sizes. Which one?

How do shipping and returns work?
Shipping is included in the price; there is no separate delivery charge. Orders ship within 1 to 3 business days, then take 7 to 12 business days in transit, so allow about 8 to 15 business days from order confirmation. We deliver to the 50 US states and Washington, D.C. Import duties and customs fees are paid by us. If a carrier ever asks you for any, contact us and we will cover it in full. Unused items in their original condition and packaging can be returned within 30 days of delivery. You can try a harness or a collar on your dog indoors to check the size: if it is clean, undamaged and has never been worn outside, it still counts as unused. Opened rolls of bags cannot be returned. A product that arrives defective, damaged or wrong, or shows a defect within those 30 days, is replaced or refunded, even if it has been used. Return shipping for a change of mind is paid by the customer; we send the return address by e-mail, and it may be outside the United States. For a defective, damaged or wrong item, we pay it. You can cancel at no charge until your order ships.
