Ears up, rear end bouncing, out the door at a trot: a Corgi, in our padded harness.

The padded body panel goes around the chest, the neck and chest straps adjust, and the leash clips to the metal D-ring on the back, between the shoulders. Corgis often land between S and M on the chart, so let the tape measure have the last word: measure the chest just behind the front legs, then the neck. If the chest and the weight point to different sizes, go by the chest, and between two sizes, take the larger one.

It goes well with the walk a Corgi likes: a brisk loop down a tree-lined sidewalk in the morning, a stop at every hedge, and the leash hanging slack from the D-ring.

Care

Wipe it with a damp cloth and a little mild soap, then let it air dry flat, away from a heater or direct sun.
Check the straps, stitching and buckles before each walk; stop using it if a buckle cracks or a strap frays.

How to use it

Open both buckles and loosen the straps.
Put the harness on with the D-ring on your dog’s back, between the shoulders.
Close the buckles until they click.
Tighten the neck and chest straps until two fingers slide flat under every strap, no more.
Clip the leash to the D-ring on the back.
Check the fit again after the first few walks.

Read before the first walk

Safety

Check the fit before every walk: two fingers should slide flat under every strap, and the harness must not slide over the head or rub behind the front legs.
Before every walk, check that both buckles click shut and that the D-ring, the stitching and the straps are sound. Stop using a harness that is cracked, frayed or torn.
Take the harness off at home. Never leave your dog alone, in a crate or playing with other dogs while wearing a harness or a collar: straps can catch.
Never tie your dog up with the harness or the leash, never use them on a tie-out, a zip line or a car seat belt, and never lift or carry your dog by them. This harness is not a car restraint and has not been crash-tested.
Clip the leash to the D-ring on the back and hold the loop handle: never wrap the leash around your hand, wrist or fingers, and keep it short near roads.
Check the skin under the straps after the first walks, and loosen the harness or stop using it if you see rubbing or redness.
It is not a chew toy: take a chewed harness away, and call your veterinarian if your dog swallows a piece.
On hot days, walk in the cool hours, keep to the shade and bring water: pavement too hot for the back of your hand is too hot for paws.

Is this the same harness as the other breed pages?

Yes. It is the same SANPO harness on the Corgi, Dachshund, Frenchie and Small Dog pages, at the same price, in the same 11 colors and four sizes. This page shows it on a Corgi and helps you choose the size for one.

Which size for my Corgi?

Corgis often land between S and M: S is for a chest of 18 to 22 in, M for a chest of 23 to 30 in. Measure the chest just behind the front legs. If the chest and the weight disagree, the chest decides, and between two sizes, take the larger one. The full chart is on our size guide.

We have a Cardigan, not a Pembroke. Does that change anything?

Only the size, maybe. It is the same harness either way. Cardigans often run a little bigger than Pembrokes, so measure the chest and let the chart decide, not the breed name.

Where does the leash clip?

To the metal D-ring on the back, between the shoulders. Clip the snap hook on, check that it is closed, and let the leash hang slack.

How do shipping and returns work?

Shipping is included in the price; there is no separate delivery charge. Orders ship within 1 to 3 business days, then take 7 to 12 business days in transit, so allow about 8 to 15 business days from order confirmation. We deliver to the 50 US states and Washington, D.C. Import duties and customs fees are paid by us. If a carrier ever asks you for any, contact us and we will cover it in full. Unused items in their original condition and packaging can be returned within 30 days of delivery. You can try a harness or a collar on your dog indoors to check the size: if it is clean, undamaged and has never been worn outside, it still counts as unused. Opened rolls of bags cannot be returned. A product that arrives defective, damaged or wrong, or shows a defect within those 30 days, is replaced or refunded, even if it has been used. Return shipping for a change of mind is paid by the customer; we send the return address by e-mail, and it may be outside the United States. For a defective, damaged or wrong item, we pay it. You can cancel at no charge until your order ships.
